Arlan Hamilton's 'Your First Million'

  • Haymarket House 800 West Buena Avenue Chicago, IL, 60613 United States (map)

Join the Semicolon team on Thursday, February 22nd for an intimate conversation and book signing with THE Arlan Hamilton!

Arlan is one of the few Black, queer women who successfully broke into Silicon Valley's exclusive circle, dedicating her life to empowering underrepresented groups and teaching them how to make a lasting impact. In YOUR FIRST MILLION: Why You Don't Have to Be Born into a Legacy of Wealth to Leave One Behind (available for sale on 1/2/2024; Little, Brown Spark), Hamilton explores the concept that money equals power, not for sinister reasons, but because it offers us opportunities to pursue our passions, take risks, and change our life situations, especially for those who have had limited access to it in the past.

"YOUR FIRST MILLION" demonstrates how anyone, regardless of their background or previous financial status, can leverage the latest tools, platforms, and funding sources to bring their million-dollar idea to life. Readers will gain valuable insights and practical strategies for building wealth, including how to:

  • Identify unmet market needs.

  • Raise capital while preserving ownership.

  • Choose the right collaborators.

  • Create multiple income streams.

  • Transform their unique knowledge and experiences into profitable businesses.

  • Reinvest in their communities and empower others to do the same.

Arlan Hamilton understands that by reshaping who has the authority to validate innovative ideas and who can turn those ideas into reality, we have the power to not only transform our individual circumstances but also change the world.
